Voters go to the polls in Strabane

VOTERS have gone to the polls in Strabane with a turn-out described as ‘slow but steady.’

At polling stations at St Mary’s Primary School on the Melmount Road, some 140 locals had turned out to vote by 12noon, this is 14 per-cent of the overall electorate for this polling station.

Down the Melmount Road at the polling station at Riversdale Leisure Centre, there are two boxes for the Sperrin ward with each averaging around 14 per-cent turnout at 12pm. The Derg box in Riversdale was slightly lower with just 81 out of a total electorate of 976 (eight per-cent) having cast their votes by 12pm.


Onto Barrack Street and turnout their is also sitting at around 14 per-cent.

Polls stay open this evening until 10pm.
