A BUDDING Strabane singer has made it through to the second stage of The Voice UK auditions.
Abby-Lee Killackey performed alongside a dozen other hopefuls at the recent Voice scouting mission to the town, auditions for which took place at the Central Bar.
However, whilst the full extent of Strabane’s success has yet to be revealed, Abby-Lee explained this week that she’s already been invited to the next stage.
“I got an email to say that I got through to the next stage,” the Strabane Academy student remarked. “I have to go to the Clayton Hotel in Belfast on June 26.”
For her Strabane audition, Abby-Lee (15) performed a rendition of the Adele classic, ‘When we were young’ although she admits, she’s still undecided as to what will be her next tune.
“I’m still deciding what to sing for the next audition at the Clayton,” the continued.
“It’s a big step for me. If anything I’m hoping that this (process) gives me more experience, so that in the future, for performing or auditions, I’ll be more comfortable and I’ll have a better idea of what might happen.”
A certified fan of the Voice, Abby-Lee has already decided who she’d like her mentor to be, if she’s lucky enough to make it past the blind audition stage.
“Probably Tom Jones to be fair,” she said. “I don’t know (why)… I just Love Tom Jones.”
