Domz ‘Bombz’ his rival in just 13 seconds!

DOMZ ‘The Bombz’ McConnell wasted little time in sealing his debut professional Bare Knuckle Boxing victory in England on Saturday night, knocking out Mitch Turner in just 13 seconds.

Despite being riddled with nerves, the Strabane man looked confident during his ring walk, and that facade proved a suitable cover as, even after a brief pause to the action when Turner had to re-insert his gumshield following an open hand to the face, McConnell was soon on his way back to the changing room after flooring his opponent with a sharp right to the head.

Prior to the bout at BKB 18 at London’s O2 Arena, the 30-year-old former boxer and MMA exponent said in no uncertain terms that he was going to knock Turner ‘out cold in the first round’ and he believes his greater technique means he’s destined for the top of the BKB ranks.

“I didn’t waste any time!,” Domz beamed.

“You always hope it will be that straightforward because I didn’t look it but I was nervous. I was able to hide it for the cameras.

“But I was actually more relaxed for this fight than I have been for any other for some reason. Probably because it’s just hands – there’s no wrestling or kicks – it’s just hands and when I’m fit my hands are as good as anybody’s.

“There will be titles coming, but I have to win a few fights first.

“I love fighting and I’m good at it. I picked your man apart. Most of these guys are just brawlers, there’s no technique involved, they’re ignorant but I’m craftier, especially movement wise.

“This BKB is going to take off, it’s amazing and I think it’s going to blow up massively. Hopefully when it takes off I’ll be at the top.”

Describing his maiden BKB experience as ‘amazing’, Domz is now looking forward to a return to the ring in London on September 14 against an opponent to be named.

Between now and the early autumn, the Strabane pugilist plans to retain his fitness and sharpness by continuing to train in order to be ready for whatever and whoever lies in wait.
