MTV tattoo show comes to Strabane

STRABANE’S own resident tattoo artists are to feature in a new show on MTV.

Anchor and Rose Tattoo, headed up by local man Danny McCay, were recently visited by LA-based Travis Ross and his partner, Bernadette, who were shooting for a forthcoming series of How Far is Tattoo Far?

The basis of this series is that it puts relationships through the ultimate test of trust by asking pairs of friends, family members and couples to design tattoos for each other. The twist? The tats won’t be revealed until after they’ve been permanently inked. The series follows the blindfolded duos as they learn the stories behind the tattoos and unveil the designs unknowingly selected for them.

“He (Travis) is shooting a new show which entails travel and tattooing and we were very lucky to have our studio featured,” Danny McCay explained.

“When I opened eight years ago I never thought I’d be hosting artists of such calibre in Strabane but very happy that I am.
“His partner Bernadette does cosmetic tattooing amongst many other things like modelling etc and she has a huge following online and is a lovely person.”

Danny further explained that he is set to repay the visit – Stateside – later this year.

“I will going to California in September to tattoo with them for a few days which I am very excited about, not just because its a great opportunity; basically getting to spend more time with these guys is a reward in itself,” he explained.

“We have such a strong team at Anchor and Rose Tattoo. I love them all and I also love the people of Strabane and the rest of my clients for making it possible for me to do something I love every day.”
