THE Tyrone games against Celtic and Manchester United have been given prime-time slots and premier venues at this year’s SuperCupNI tournament.
The county Juniors will take on the next generation of Man United superstars at Ballymoney’s Riada Stadium at 8pm on the Tuesday evening and less than 24 hours later David Harvey’s U17s will square up to Celtic at the Coleraine Showgrounds (kick-off 6.15pm).
The game against the Glasgow giants will be the Premier team’s final qualifying game.
On Monday Harvey’s team will launch their campaign against Vendee at Parker Avenue, Portrush (kick-off 4pm) and on Tuesday, exactly 24 later, will face Global Premier Soccer in Ahoghill. Martin Gallagher’s under-15s begin their campaign against Bracknell Town at Parker Avenue at 12.30pm on the Monday and, following the United game, will complete their qualifying matches against Chilean opponents Colina at Ahoghill, 4pm on the Wednesday.
Preparations towards this year’s tournament have continued at pace for the Tyrone teams with the under-17 and under-15 teams competing in last Saturday’s Orchard Cup.
Both teams playing some outstanding football on the day with the Juniors running out deserved winners of their section.
This weekend Tyrone will host an inaugural George Henderson tournament at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena. Fellow county teams Armagh, Fermanagh and Down will travel to the Cookstown venue with the first games getting under way at 10am.
This year’s SuperCupNI tournament runs from Monday, July 29 until Friday, August 2 with the opening ceremony on Sunday, July 28
