Aoife wins new Mini thanks to McDonald’s

By Eimhear McGurk

ONE lucky Aghyaran student is sure to be the envy of teenagers throughout the county as she drives around in the flashy car of her dreams – all thanks to McDonald’s.

Aoife McHugh woke up to the most amazing present yesterday (Wednesday) morning when her new Mini Convertible worth over £20,000 arrived at her home.

The 18-year-old doesn’t consider herself a “very lucky person” and isn’t even a frequent visitor to the fast food chain’s premises.

But it was through the McDonald’s monopoly competition that Aoife won the prize, picking up the final sticker on a bottle of Sprite.

Aoife said she “nearly had a heart attack” when she discovered she’d collected the correct stickers to win.

“This is the first year I even collected the monopoly pieces, I would normally just throw them away,” she told the Chronicle. “I only went to McDonald’s around three times and then realised I had collected all three of the properties for the Mini,” explained Aoife.

“After that I had to enter the sticker codes online and then send them away to prove they were real. Then, the next week McDonald’s got in touch and said ‘Congratulations, Mini will be in contact with you’”.

Given the choice between a hatch-back and convertible, it was a no brainier for the Year 14 student who had always dreamed of owning her own Mini Convertible – which she opted for in the colour cream.
