Raising the Barr on The Chase

A STRABANE councillor will swap constituents for quizzing next week, when he makes his debut appearance on the ever popular TV show, The Chase.

The SDLP’s Jason Barr will be summoning up all his general knowledge this Tuesday at 5pm on ITV. And although he was keeping his cards close to his chest this week in terms of his progress, he noted, “You may have noticed by now I ain’t driving about in a new flashy car so don’t expect much!”

However the Strabane man, who recorded the show back in November of last year, says his experience on the show was one of the best of his life.

“It was a brilliant experience,” he remarked. “One of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

“It was great to see how it all works behind the scenes on a TV show – really interesting.

“I don’t want to give too much away but I can say that I normally do well in the house, when I’m watching the show. But when you’re there in the spotlight and Bradley (Walsh) is standing in front of you, it’s much more difficult.

“It was a great experience and one I’ll never forget, but I’m still going to be a bit cringe-y for me when the show goes out on Tuesday.”
