VENTURES II travelled to the Burnfoot Invitational Karate competition.
The youth competition, which is highly regarded in Karate circles, brought some new and young veteran competitors to the floor.
The Ventures II team travelled early in the morning and began their competition with kata.
Almost straight away young Chloe McDaid put great performance and came third in her section. Next to hit the medals was Wayne Kneely, his excellent kata saw him sail through the rounds and come out champion for 2019.
Next up was the kumite for the juniors and Mia McGarrigle set the ball rolling with getting on the podium for a hard fought third place.
Soon after young Anthony Kneely went through the rounds to come out with Gold and champion in his section for 2019.
After lunch it was the cadets to take to the mats and Connor Healey showed is prowess as he blew the competition away and retained his kata champion title for the fourth time.
Soon after, Tiarnach O’Neill went through some tough bouts in his section to come away with a busted lip, staved thumb and hard-fought third place.
“We at Ventures II are very proud of all our competitors that took part in the competition,” said a club spokesperson.
“Not all gained medals but all gained valuable lessons and experience that will carry forward to their next competition.
