Grant of £334,535 is a major lift for Fountain Street

FOUNTAIN Street Community Group is celebrating after it scooped a £334,535 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund.

The group is using the grant over five years to develop their centre into a community hub. The project is using the funding to employ staff to run the centre and organise activities for local residents and the wider community. The hub will provide a safe welcoming environment for people to take part in activities to build their self-esteem, confidence and improve the quality of their lives. The group is also developing a strategic plan.

Lynn Maguire, chair of Fountain Street Community Development Association said,“We are absolutely delighted to have received this funding.

“This will make a huge difference to the people of this area who avail of our programs, how the centre and association will operate going forward, and it will create much needed new employment opportunities. We would like also to extend our thanks to the National Lottery players without whom this funding would not be available”.

Kate Beggs, The National Lottery Community Fund Northern Ireland director, said, “I am delighted to announce this grant. It’s great to see National Lottery money being used by people who are taking the lead in developing great ideas to help their communities thrive.”
