STRABANE Sigersons GAA Club held its annual senior awards night and Grand Draw in the clubrooms at Pirc Mhic Sioghair on Saturday night.
The main player awards were presented by club president John McCrory to the following: Senior Men’s Player of the Year, Ruairi Gormley; Young Mens Player of the Year, Ruairi White; Reserve Men’s Player of the Year, Kyle Devine; Senior Ladies Player of the Year, Tori McLaughlin; Young Ladies Player of the Year, Liana MacIntyre.
There were also four appreciation awards presented: Ruairi Gormley, Tyrone Under 20 Captain; Tori McLaughlin, Tyrone Senior Ladies Player; Ellie Jay McMenamin, Tyrone Senior Ladies Player; Tommy Doherty, for his years of service to Sigersons and the senior men’s team.
The adult team managers also received a presentation on the night, as senior men’s managers Gerard Murray and Eamon McGowan were thanked for their hard work and dedication and commitment throughout the season. Ryan McElroy, meanwhile, was also acknowledged for his work with the senior ladies, getting them back on their feet after a disappointing 2018 with the future looking very positive.
The clubperson of the year award for 2019 went to James O’Reilly, who has had pivotal role in the club during the year, holding various committee positions, bar manager and youth team coach.
James has played for the club since he was primary school age and made his senior debut whilst still a juvenile. He has played at every level for the club for more than two decades.
The award was presented by club vice-chairman Sean Harte and club president John McCrory.
