Greenfield has remained Covid free throughout pandemic

SOME 80 per-cent of staff and residents at Greenfield Home in Strabane have received both doses of their coronavirus vaccine.

Speaking this week as staff and management continue to follow best practice to curb the spread of the virus, it was further revealed that the local facility has remained Covid free throughout the pandemic so far.

“We believe this has been facilitated by the residents, staff, visitors and our care partners following strict infection control guidelines,” spokesperson, Eilish Morris stated.

“Eighty per-cent of our residents and staff team have received the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine with the first dose on December 15 and the second dose on January 5.

“This deployment of the vaccination programme has been both hugely important and welcome.

“The progress the Trust has made in delivering vaccinations in such a short space of time – through the huge efforts of staff across the system – is a significant achievement.

“We continue to follow best practice to help minimise ongoing risks of infection.

“We continue to test residents and staff via the national testing programme and remain vigilant, to act to prevent the spread of coronavirus through strict adherence to infection prevention and control.

“The application of these measures has undoubtedly saved lives and will continue to do so.”

Eilish concluded, “We have had vast support, prayers and good wishes from the local community and local business and believe this has kept us all safe/motivated during these difficult times for all.”
